FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: female Wistar rats aged 10 months or more are used as experimental animals to undergo total parathyroidectomy with single-step thyroid resection in depth of 0.1-0.2 mm from parathyroid gland capsules. A thyroid wound surface is coated with Sulphacrylate Medical Adhesive.
EFFECT: method enables producing a stable, standardised, 100% reproducible hypocalcemia model with no lethality in experimental animals.
