FIELD: physics, navigation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a system and a method of identifying objects. A system for asynchronous identification of an object in measurement space comprises a plurality of object sensors for determining at least one parameter describing objects during movement thereof relative to the measurement space, wherein each parameter does not contain system clock data, a position sensor for generating position data relating to the relative movement, wherein the position data do not contain system clock data, a processing device for receiving parameters from the object sensors, associating parameters with corresponding parameters of objects based on the position data and known position and orientation of the object sensor, which defines each corresponding parameter, wherein the method enables to associate corresponding parameters with corresponding objects without taking into account the system clock data, and comparing, for each object having at least one associated parameter, at least one associated parameter with parameters of known objects to assign an object identifier to the object.

EFFECT: faster operation of the identification system and accuracy of identification.
