SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of adding display reproduction detailing information to an input image from a set of video images. Said information is used by the receiving side of a colour reproduction image processing device to control image region brightness of corresponding images for at least two displays of different dynamic brightness ranges. The method includes a step of displaying an input image to a human operator, also according to the method, receiving through a user interface descriptive mode data of a region in the input image from the human operator. The descriptive data include: region selection information to enable retrieval of a pixel region at the receiving side, wherein the region selection information contains a brightness value which divides pixels having brightness higher or lower than said brightness, respectively, or geometric information.

EFFECT: improved image vividness owing to transmission of semantic metadata from the side of the content creator.
