FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention represents method of producing genetically modified wood plants, which includes: a) production and preparation to inoculation of plant explants strain A. tumefaciens containing intended for introduction into plant selective marker and/or useful genes; b) production and preparation to strain A. tumefaciens plant explants; c) inoculation of explants strain A. tumefaciens in liquid medium; d) co-cultivation of explants with agrobacteria on medium without selective agents and bacteriostatic antibiotics; e) placing of explants on medium containing selective agents and bacteriostatic antibiotics to obtain regenerants directly from tissue explants or through stage of callus; e) extraction of obtained at selective medium regenerants by testing for presence of full-size copy of target gene, where co-cultivation step is terminated if observing in nutrient medium for one layer of filter paper with pore size of 5-8 mcm colonies agrobacteria in amount of 10-20 % of plant explants.
EFFECT: invention enables to determine optimum period of co-cultivation and increase frequency of genetic transformation of plants.
