FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medicine, namely to dentistry, and aims at designing a dental prosthesis. One or more two-dimensional (2D) images one of which contains a part of a face are formed. A virtual 3D model of at least a part of a patient's oral cavity is produced. At least one of the 2D images are arranged in relation to the virtual 3D model in a virtual three-dimensional space so that the 2D image and virtual 3D model are visualised in the three-dimensional space and aligned when observed from a view point. The dental prosthesis is modelled according to the virtual 3D model with this prosthesis fits the part of the face varying on one or more 2D images.

EFFECT: by designing the virtual 3D model on the basis of one or more 2D images, the inventions enables forming a patient's virtual denture according to the patient's image; the modelling procedure may be performed taking into account the parts of the face having an influence of patient's appearance or look, or taking into account several, one or more patient's specific parts of the face, eg lips.
