SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an apparatus for detecting photons, particularly in radiographic imaging systems. Detection unit generates detection signal pulses having a detection signal pulse height being indicative of energy of detected photons, wherein a detection values generation unit generates energy-resolved detection values depending on detection signal pulses. Signal pulse generation unit generates artificial signal pulses having a predefined artificial signal pulse height and a predefined generated rate. Detection values generation unit determines an observed rate being rate of artificial signal pulses having an artificial signal pulse height being larger than a predefined threshold as observed by detection values generation unit and determines an offset of detection signal pulses depending on determined observed rate.
EFFECT: high reliability of determining displacement of signal pulse detection.
