FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment and a method of detecting electromagnetic waves in terahertz range. Method includes terahertz radiation flow direction to converter with formation of a signal in the last one registered by a detector. System of quantum dots in the matrix with terahertz transparency is used as a converter, which is placed in external magnetic field with induction B=ħ×ν/g×µB, magnetometer is used as a detector, which detects change of quantum dots system magnetization. Radiation rate is calculated as follows: jex=1/[g×µB×n×b/ΔJ×(1+b·j0)-b], where B is the external magnetic field induction; ħ - Planck constant; ν is frequency of detected radiation; g - Lande g-factor; µB - Bohr magneton; jex - intensity of detected radiation; n - volume density of quantum dots; b=c2/4πν3 - parameter defined by frequency; j0 - intensity of background (heat) terahertz radiation.
EFFECT: technical result is in simplification of the detection method.
