FIELD: laser engineering.
SUBSTANCE: solid-state active element consists of laser plates arranged in series in one row or several parallel rows. Each plate has two inactive layers adjoining lengthwise narrow edges, and active layer, integrated with optical contact between inactive layers. In each row active layers longitudinal axes are combined and form row optical axis. Rows are located with equal pitch in vertical and horizontal directions. In all rows even plates wide edges are located horizontally, and alternative plates wide edges are arranged vertically.
EFFECT: technical result consists in reduction of thermo-optical effects harmful influence, in effective scattering and absorption of undesirable emissions and wider power limits scaling of compact lasers and optical amplifiers by changing number of plates, installed in series and parallel to laser device optical path, including super-luminescent lasers and single pass lasers on active media with self-limited transitions.
