SUBSTANCE: invention relates to controlling an automotive engine. Method of controlling an engine with a fuel injector involves adjusting the angle of the injector spraying in the cylinder depending on the value of premature ignition. In another version, when in the first cylinder a high number of premature ignitions is registered, and in the second one - a low number, fuel is injected into the first cylinder with a spraying angle depending on the first number of registered premature ignitions, and fuel is injected in the same cycle of the engine operation into the second cylinder with an angle of spraying depending on the second number of registered premature ignitions.
EFFECT: premature ignition is prevented.
