Image decoding method includes steps of: determining context for use in a current block; performing arithmetic decoding over a bit sequence corresponding to current block, using a defined context for decoding a binary sequence, wherein bit sequence is obtained by performing arithmetic coding over a control parameter of current block; inversely binarising binary sequence to decode control parameter of current block; wherein step of determining a context includes steps of: determining a signal type of control parameter of current block; determining context under a first condition; determining context under a second condition; and determining context under a third condition.

EFFECT: reduced use of memory capacity.
