FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry. Method involves applying an analysed sample of aqueous solution onto a silica gel sorbent, modified treatment with aqueous solution of a transition metal salt at temperature 50–70 °C and value of pH from 3 to 5 for 1–1.5 hours and dried. Appearance of a coloured zone on sorbent indicates presence in solution of a biocidal nitrogen-containing organic compound. In one embodiment, sorbent used is modified salt of transition metal, placed in an indicator tube, exposure of sorbent is performed by passing analysed sample through indicator tube. Another version uses a hydrophilic material containing a sorbent, modified with a transition metal salt, and exposure of sorbent is carried out by application of drops of analysed sample on said material. Preferably transition metal salt used is a copper salt. To increase sensitivity analysed sample is obtained by passing analysed aqueous solution through a concentrating cartridge for solid phase extraction and water-alcohol solution is desorbed.

EFFECT: invention can be used to determine presence of nitrogen-containing antimicrobial preparations (isiniaside, ethambutol and others) and antibiotics (cephalosporin cefazolin, cefatoxime, cefuroxime, cefalexin and others) in analysed liquid media.
