FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method of determining content of a biocidal nitrogen-containing organic compound in an aqueous solution includes modifying a silica gel sorbent with a transition metal salt by treating silica gel with an aqueous solution of a transition metal salt at 50-70°C and pH 3-5 for 1-1.5 hours, drying, placing the sorbent into a glass indicator pipe, passing the analysed sample through the indicator pipe with a sorbent modified with a transition metal salt, measuring the length of the coloured area of the sorbent and determining concentration of said compound therein.

EFFECT: methods cuts the time required to determine antibiotics while lowering the detection threshold thereof, high accuracy of determination and reduced error of the result.
