SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment, in particular, to methods for measuring the ground speed of vehicles using the Doppler effect for electromagnetic waves. Microwave wavelengths are additionally linearly modulated, differential frequency signal spectrum envelope is determined before the start of movement and at the same time, cross-correlation function between them is calculated, and ground speed is determined based on frequency shift, which is its maximum.

EFFECT: technical result is increased accuracy of measuring velocity due to the fact that the method for ground speed measurement, in which microwaves are emitted at the angle α between the direction of movement and surface, includes receiving reflected waves, extracting the differential frequency signal on the mixer between the part of the downcoming and received waves.
