FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment, in particular to devices for measuring distance traveled by ground vehicle using Doppler effect. Proximity distance meter comprises a microwave generator of electromagnetic oscillations with wavelength λ0, a directional coupler, a circulator, an antenna directed forward at an angle α in direction of vehicle movement, two mixers, a computing unit, a delay line for λ0/2, a comparator and a pulse counter, interconnected in a certain manner, wherein in the computing unit the distance traveled is determined by the formula L=nλ0/2cos(α), where n is current reading of pulse counter.

EFFECT: high accuracy of measuring the path traversed by a ground vehicle.
