FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: palatal distraction device is equipped with a housing with a fixing member, where a pair of rods with ends protruding from the housing is placed along the housing. The rods are mounted within the housing with a possibility of movement relative to each other during its rotation in the direction of convergence or distancing along the housing axis. The end portion of each rod is equipped a plate with studs provided on the side opposite to the rod-facing side of the plate. Each plate has a through hole for fixation on the palatal bone by a fixing screw. Each plate and the corresponding rod are equipped with a detachable connection unit which comprises a projection arranged on the plate side opposite to the side with studs, with a cavity that extends outwards from the opposite side of the plate with studs. The part of the plate body, which limits the cavity has a polyhedral recess, limited by facets with edges between adjacent facets. The end of the respective rod has projections consistently located along the perimeter of the spherical shape with edges between adjacent projections of spherical shape. In the assembled position of the spherical shape, the rod protrusions are located in the recesses of the polyhedral shape of the corresponding plate cavity until stop, with a possibility of swinging relatively to each other.

EFFECT: invention allows housing replacement, without removing the plate with studs, without repeated extraction of the housing with two plates with studs, which reduces injury to the patient and simplifies jaw extension.
