FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: double-stranded RNA molecule with blunt ends and 23 base pairs in length stimulating miR-34a cell activity is proposed. Thus an RNA molecule comprises of an active strand having SEQ ID NO: 2 from 5' to 3' and a fully complementary passenger strand having a nucleotide sequence consisting of SEQ ID NO: 4. The passenger strand comprises of 2'-OMe modified sugar in nucleotides at positions 1, 2, 22 and 23, and a terminal nucleotide modification at the 5'-terminus.
EFFECT: double-stranded RNA molecules of the invention are stable to nuclease digestion, active and specifically hybridizing with the correct mRNA target.
