FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for processing the external birch bark includes the isolation of betulin and suberic acids, which consists in extraction of betulin by a regenerated mixture of EtOAc-water (~3.5% H2O), followed by treatment of the bark with hot water containing EtOAc for hydrodistillation of the organic solvent, and then with an aqueous solution of an inorganic base with extraction of salts of suberic acids.
EFFECT: effective method for complex processing of the outer birch bark is proposed, in which betulin and suberic acids are obtained in high yield.
