SUBSTANCE: device determining sensor abnormality comprises the inverter (3) comprising: the power element (3a); the cooling water circulation path (42) having cooling water (41) for cooling the power element (3a), circulating therein; the temperature sensor (51) determining the temperature of the power element (3a); and the water temperature sensor (52) determining the temperature of cooling water (41) circulating in the cooling water circulation path (42). The device determining the sensor abnormality comprises: the abnormality determination section (5a) which determines that the temperature sensor (51) is abnormal, when the difference (ΔT) between the temperature determined by means of the temperature sensor (51) and the water temperature determined by the water temperature sensor (52) exceeds the predetermined difference between the determination temperatures; and the section (5b) of setting the determination temperature, due to which the determination temperatures difference during the time when the temperature detected by means of the temperature sensor (51), below the water temperature determined by the water temperature sensor (52), is set equal to a smaller value than the difference of the determination temperatures within the time when the temperature detected by means of the temperature sensor (51) is higher than the water temperature determined by the water temperature sensor (52).

EFFECT: expanding the operational capabilities by enabling the possibility of determining the temperature sensor abnormality at a small difference between the power element temperature and the cooling water temperature.
