FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: refractory material comprises granular fused chromium periclase and dispersed magnesia component at the following ratio of components, wt %: granular fused chromium-periclase-base, dispersed component-15-30. As a dispersed component refractory material contains a mixture of fused chromium-periclase and sintered and/or cauterized periclase, taken in the ratio of (85-98):(2-15). The fused chromium-periclase contains, wt %: SiO2 0.40-1.50; Al2O3 3-10; Cr2O3 15-28; CaO is less than 1.0; MgO 55-65; FeO 5-15. The chromium-periclase refractory material can additionally contain chromium oxide, titanium oxide, silicon oxide, zirconium oxide or their combinations in an amount up to 10% in the composition of dispersed component.
EFFECT: increased resistance of the refractory material to structural cracking in contact with molten metal or slag.
