FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: network node serves a cell in the cellular communication system. The radio interface of the cellular communication system is divided into successive frames, each of the frames comprising a plurality of successive subframes, each of the subframes comprising a plurality of consecutive symbols. The method includes receiving and detecting a request signal transmitted by the device in the cell. At least, in part, based on the characteristic of the request signal that indicates one or more capabilities of the device in the device, an associated frequency/time position for transmitting the response signal is set. The response signal is transmitted at the set frequency/time position.
EFFECT: optimizing the use of the radio-frequency spectrum and resources of the planning module.
