FIELD: machine engineering.
SUBSTANCE: head has a base surface, the side and upper areas. The upper area limits central section and the periphery and contains upper teeth with cutting edges, each of which extends from the central portion in the direction of periphery and has an apex portion extending in axial direction. Each tooth defines a radial axis that forms an angle with respect to the reference radial line and crosses said line at the periphery. Each cutting edge has a front surface with a flat zone parallel to the radial axis and located at an angle with respect to the reference plane parallel to the axis of head rotation. The cutting edges have an undercut surface located below the flat zone at an angle relative to the reference plane parallel to the axis of head rotation. The methods for milling an article by means of the milling cutter comprising such cutting head are provided.
EFFECT: provided better cutting quality along the Z axis in comparison with the heads, which cutting surfaces lie in the same plane in during plunge milling along Z axis, and efficient removal of material when moving the milling cutter.
