FIELD: computer technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of computer technology for controlling of image displaying with an expanded or increased dynamic range. An image control processor receives an input image with the increased dynamic range that must be displayed on a target display that has a dynamic range different from an initial display. The input image is converted into IPT perceptually quantized (hereinafter – IPT-PQ) color space, preferably IPT-PQ color space. A function of displaying color volume containing a function of adaptive displaying of tone and a function of adaptive displaying of gamma generates a displayed image. A stage of detail saving is applied to an intensity component of the displayed image to generate a final displayed image with filtered tonally displayed intensity image. The final displayed image is then transferred back to the preferable color space of the display.
EFFECT: improved accuracy of color representation and reduced color artifacts in the output image.
