FIBRE-OPTIC VOLUMETRIC STRESS SENSOR Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC G01B11/00 G01L1/16

Abstract RU 2643692 C1

FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment, in particular to fibre-optic means of measuring an inhomogeneous complex volumetric dynamic stress state, and can be used to diagnose stress state and flaw detection of composites, in biomedical research, hydroacoustics, aerodynamics, safety systems for remote monitoring of pressure. Fibre-optic volumetric stress sensor comprises an extended frame, measuring elements located inside the frame codirectionally with its axis. Each measuring element includes a fibre-optic light guide configured to connect to a measuring device, two control continuous electrodes, a piezoelectric element, an electroluminescent element. Piezoelectric elements of all measuring elements have different directions of spatial polarisation, from which arbitrary three directions are not coplanar. There are at least two measuring elements.

EFFECT: invention enables to determine all six independent components of the stress tensor for a volumetric complex stress state and locate inhomogeneities of the stress state along the length of the sensor.
