FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for pre-operative determination of the intra-lenticular pressure (ILP) in patients with swelling cataract. Preoperative ultrasound biomicroscopy of the anterior part of the eye is performed. Lens thickness, depth of the anterior chamber and hypoechoic layer thickness are determined. The ILP is calculated by the formula: ILP=-21.940+8.082×A+4.244×B+2.800×C, where A is lens thickness; B is depth of the anterior chamber; C is hypoechoic layer thickness.
EFFECT: method provides objective ILP determination in patients with swelling cataract, which allows phacoemulsification of the swelling cataract without complications.
