SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medicine, namely, to forensic medicine. To determine the real person approximate height, a set of average statistical sizes of human height sizes and corresponding to each of these values of the average size of the footprint of a person's foot is preliminary obtained. Measuring the foot trace length of a real person, which height must be determined. Selecting from the previously obtained set of human height values of that value, which corresponds to the average statistical value of the foot length, closest in value to the measured value of the length of the human foot, which height must be determined. Preliminary obtain individual sets of average sizes of the human height sizes and corresponding to each of these values of the average sizes of the human foot trail for men, characterized as a lean build man, medium build man and obese build man, for women, characterized as lean build women, medium build women, obese build women, for men aged 18 to 50 years, for men over 50 years, for women from 18 to 50 years, for women over 50 years. For each of the sets, charts are plotted by the obtained foot trace length and the height average statistical parameters. After measuring of the foot trail length, the person height diagnosis is made, whose footprint is measured, in accordance with the chart, which selection from the obtained sets is carried out by collecting external signs by interviewing identified witnesses. For most of the same answers, a chart is chosen that corresponds to the characteristics of the person in the set, which footprint is examined, and the approximate height is determined by the chosen chart.
EFFECT: method increases the accuracy of the person height determining, which contributes to a more targeted search for the person, whose trace is found.
