FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of ceramics from quartz ceramics, such as quartz crucibles for the metallurgy industry. A method is proposed for molding blanks from quartz ceramics, including the preparation of an aqueous slurry of quartz glass with a density of 1.80÷1.91 g/cm3, its pouring into a porous mold under pressure and holding under pressure for a predetermined time in which the molding is carried out in a mold made of a porous polymer, at a pressure of 0.5÷0.8 MPa, and the holding time of the slurry under pressure is calculated from the ratio of the wall thickness of the blank to the gathering rate, which is 10÷20 mm/h.
EFFECT: application of the proposed method allows to accelerate significantly (in 8÷10 times) the molding process of ceramic blanks from quartz ceramics, without the need for an intermediate drying of the porous mold.
