SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the chemical industry for the production of high-purity aluminum, intended for the growth of sapphire single crystals, the manufacture of dental cements and ceramics, catalysts, medicines and cosmetics. Method for hydrolyzing aluminum isopropoxide involves mixing aluminum isopropoxide with isopropyl alcohol and water. Aluminum isopropoxide and isopropyl alcohol with acetylacetone are mixed, then water is fed into the mixture at the following component ratio, by weight: aluminum isopropoxide 1.11–1.19; isopropyl alcohol 86.90–93.79; acetylacetone 0.23–0.92; water 4.79–11.07.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase the uniformity of grain sizes of the resulting precipitate of aluminum hydroxide, to reduce their size.
