FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to biotechnology. Interfering ribonucleic acid (RNA) is disclosed. Also considered are: a polynucleotide comprising a sequence encoding an interfering RNA, a DNA expressing construct, a host cell, compositions, a housing and a pest control trap. Described is the use of the disclosed inventions to prevent and/or combat pest attack and as a pesticide for a plant or a material for propagation of a plant's reproductive material; as well as a combination of interfering RNA and another active agent, in particular a herbicide, and a method for down-regulating expression of a target gene in a pest species.
EFFECT: proposed interfering RNA provides effective suppression of expression of a target gene in an insect pest selected from Lygus hesperus, Leptinotarsa decemlineata, Nilaparvata lugens and Acyrthosiphon pisum, and can find further application in the genetic control of said insects.
