FIELD: engines.

SUBSTANCE: internal combustion engine comprises a cylinder and a piston moving in the cylinder. Inlet valve (6) is configured to introduce the gas or prevent the gas from being introduced from engine inlet channel (4) into combustion chamber (8) in the cylinder. Outlet valve is configured to discharge the gas present in combustion chamber (8) into the outlet channel or to retard this gas. In combustion chamber (8), dome surface (8a) on the side of inlet channel (4) and the surface of an arch on the outlet channel side are inclined relative to the plane perpendicular to the central axis of the cylinder. In the engine, a swirling flow is created due to the flow of gas in the cylinder in the direction from the surface of the arch on the outlet channel side to the upper surface of the piston adjacent to the wall surface of the cylinder hole provided in the cylinder on the outlet channel side, and flow of gas in the direction from the upper surface of the piston to the surface of arch (8a) on the inlet channel (4) side adjacent to the wall surface of the cylinder hole on the inlet channel side. In the predetermined area, which is located in inlet channel (4) upstream of surface (41) contacting valve (6), upper surface (42) of the wall of inlet channel (4) is inclined downwardly from the direction of the normal to surface (8a) of the arch on the inlet channel (4) side with respect to this surface, passes directly from upstream edge (41a) of surface (41) contacting valve (6) and, substantially, in a straight line. Surface (41) contacting valve (6) is a surface on which plate (62) of inlet valve (6) adjoins the wall of the hole of inlet channel (4) into combustion chamber (8) when inlet valve (6) is closed. In a predetermined area, inlet channel (4) in a direction perpendicular to its axis has a flattened section in which the long axis extends in the transverse direction. Transverse direction is defined as the direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the inlet channel and parallel to the radial direction in the cylinder.

EFFECT: technical result is increased intensity of the flow twisting.
