SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an oral care composition and methods of using same. Composition according to the invention comprises an effective amount of aluminium chlorohydrate suspended in a carrier to prevent, reduce or inhibit dentinal hypersensitivity, the carrier being a hydrophobic carrier containing the triglyceride of a C6-C12 fatty acid; the buffer is selected from glycine and betaine, and the composition contains a maximum amount of water of 3 wt%, wherein the aluminium chlorohydrate used exhibits a SEC chromatogram having SEC Peak 4 to Peak 3 intensity ratio of at least 7 and a Peak 4 intensity greater than a Peak 5 intensity, wherein SEC chromatogram with the following parameters is used, taken with an analytical pump and a controller Waters®, 7725I dispenser Rheodyne®, column Protein-Pak® 125 (Waters), refractometric detector Waters 2414, 5.56 mmol nitric acid mobile phase, 0.50 ml / min - flow rate, 2.0 microlitres is the volume of the injected sample, and analysis using software Water® Empower (Waters Corporation, Milford, Mass). EFFECT: makeup of the composition provides effective closure of dental tubules and, correspondingly, a reduction in hypersensitivity of teeth when the composition is used in the oral cavity.
