FIELD: furnaces and ovens.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a rotary hearth furnace for heating of an agglomerate containing iron oxides and a carbonaceous reductant and reducing of the iron oxide to produce reduced iron. Furnace comprises means for loading the agglomerate under the furnace, means for discharging the material heated from the furnace, means for discharging the off-gas in the furnace to the outside of the furnace, and also comprises a heating zone and a non-heated zone. In this case, the means for discharging the exhaust gas from the furnace is set in the non-heated zone. Means for introducing of external air into the furnace is installed in the non-heated zone and on the upstream side in the direction of the exhaust gas flow from the exhaust gas discharge means to the outside of the furnace.
EFFECT: invention effectively utilizes the physical heat of the off-gas and thus increases the yield of reduced iron.
