SUBSTANCE: joint implant for implantation into a bone comprises a stem having a proximal section and a distal section, at least two grooves substantially extending along the longitudinal direction of the stem, a first coating at least partially covering the surface of said elongated grooves, and a ridge. Said ridge is formed in between adjacent grooves and has an apex surface having average surface roughness that is lower than the average surface roughness of the first coating.
EFFECT: invention provides primary short-term stability and secondary long-term stability.
