FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in control systems of internal combustion engines. When controlling the catalyst preheating, the primary injection is performed by the injector in the intake stroke. Secondary injection is performed with a value smaller than the primary injection in the firing stroke after the compression top dead center. When adjusting the catalyst preheating, interval from the beginning of the spark plug ignition period to the completion of secondary injection is regulated by the electronic control unit in such a way, that the primary flame created from the fuel-air mixture containing the atomized fuel jet injected by the primary injection, comes into contact with the atomized fuel jet injected by secondary injection.
EFFECT: optimization of the combustion process in the engine during catalyst preheating.
