FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, specifically to ophthalmology. For treatment of keratoconus, implantation of the intra-genomic segments (IRS) is carried out. 6 months after implantation of the intragarotic segments, laser thermokeratoplasty is performed in 2–4 rows of coagulum, depending on the degree of corneal astigmatism and the projection of the corneal area with a weak refractive power. With corneal astigmatism up to 1.0 dptr, the first circular series of coagulates is placed between the edges of the intra-groove segment(s) in the optical zone with a diameter of 5.0 mm, the second circular row in the optical zone with a diameter of 6.5 mm. In corneal astigmatism, from 1 to 2 dopters, a third row of staggered coagulate plates is applied in an optical zone with a diameter of 7.5 mm, more than 2.0 diopters – additionally the fourth row of coagulum staggered in the optical zone of 8.5 mm in the projection of the cornea section with a weak refractive power.

EFFECT: method improves biomechanical properties of the weakened keratoconus cornea after implantation of the IRS by creating an additional ring of stiffness from the coagulates, and also improves visual acuity due to the reduction of corneal astigmatism and increased sphericity of the cornea due to keratotopographically oriented application of additional rows of coagulates in the area of the cornea with a weak refractive power.
