SUBSTANCE: invention relates to changing the dimensions of liquid crystal displays. Liquid crystal device includes a four-color converter, a data driver, a scanning driver, and a liquid crystal panel for displaying colors. Four-color converter is designed for converting the original RGB data into three values of gray level, performing the process of balancing the white over three values of the gray level, and determining the maximum value of MAX (Ri, Gi, Bi) and the minimum value among the three white-balanced gray levels Ri, Gi, and Bi. Data driver processes the RGBW data provided by the four-color converter to generate analog-type data signals. Scan driver generates scan signals in sequence.
EFFECT: improving the quality of the display panel due to the fact that each subpixel of the liquid crystal display panel satisfies the relation W=R+G+B when displayed and the LCD panel displays the spectrum and the chromaticity of the white color in the normal range.
