METHOD FOR ENCODING A STIMULATION SIGNAL IN A COCHLEAR IMPLANT Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61N1/36

Abstract RU 2657941 C1

FIELD: medical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment, in particular to a method for encoding signals in implantable devices, providing electrostimulation of nerve terminals, for information transfer. It is aimed at improving the frequency resolution while maintaining temporal and amplitude resolution, reducing the number of instrument artefacts, increasing intelligibility of perception. Improving the allocation of the information component at the noise level. Encoding method comprises receiving an input acoustic signal and allocating its dynamic range; splitting the signal into frames having the same duration; calculating the frequencies of the tonal components of the input signal by jointly processing at least three Fourier transforms of the signal, obtained by using three window functions, each of which comprises a different number of frames; calculating the amplitude of the tonal components of the input signal by least-squares decomposition over a basis of frequencies, detected at the previous stage; excitation of at least one electrode, corresponding to the calculated frequency of the tonal component, by the electric pulse, value of which is proportional to the calculated amplitude of the tonal component of the signal.

EFFECT: electrostimulation of nerve terminals, for information transfer.
