SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication techniques, in particular to measuring deactivated secondary component carriers, as well as measuring deactivated secondary component carriers without interrupts. In some embodiments, a method of operating a wireless device with a carrier aggregation (CA) capability in a cellular network comprises reconfiguring the wireless device during a measurement gap, so that the wireless device is allowed to receive a first set of one or more carriers after a measurement gap that is different from the second set of one or more carriers, which the wireless device received before the measuring gap. In some embodiments, reconfiguring the wireless device during the measurement gap enables the reconfiguration of the wireless measurement device on the secondary component carrier (SCC) of the configured and deactivated secondary cell (SCell) of the wireless device without interrupting the serving cell.
