FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical devices for protecting against overvoltages, for example lightning, the principle of which is based on an electric discharge. Presented arrester comprising housing (1), terminals (3) that are located partly inside and partly outside the housing, electrodes (5) disposed in the housing and electrically connected to the terminals, insulating member (6) with an aperture located between the electrodes, wherein at least one of the electrodes is provided with an opening that is closed by valve (7). Housing comprises one or more sealed chamber, and the valve is made with the possibility of releasing the discharge products from the volume between the electrodes into a sealed chamber.
EFFECT: invention excludes the harmful effect of discharge products on the environment while ensuring the preservation of operability.
