In method after passing the metal strip (200) through the coating tank (110) with the liquid coating material (300), the strip (200) is passed through the slot (122) of the scavenging device (120) located after said reservoir (110), actual convexity of the strip (200) is measured after exiting the coating tank (110), correction roller (160) is located inside the coating tank (110), which is attached to the metal strip (200) to smooth it, when the size of the actual convexity exceeds the specified allowable convexity threshold value. In order to improve the method, the actual position of the metal strip (200) is adjusted to a predetermined nominal average position in the slot (122) of the blowing device (120) by moving the scouring device in a plane transversely to the direction of transport of the metal strip, measuring the mounting position of the correction roller (160) or changing it, and moving the scouring device (120), taking into account the positioning of the correction roller (160).
