FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: inventions relate to measuring equipment. Method consists in measuring the location by the depth of the obstacle of the layer of filaments having the greatest energy absorption. For its implementation, a device is used, including a device for measuring the velocity of the damaging element, shooting device and a recorder, a thermal imaging system, a flight start recorder, a frame counter, first and second logical blocks "if", an electronic switch, first – third adder, first – second inverters delay unit, first – second multipliers. Thermal imaging system is located in such a way that the field of view of its optical part covers the place of contact of the damaging element and a composite armored barrier. Technical result is an increase in the informativeness and reliability of the results of testing the structures of armored barriers, having a multilayer structure, without a thick substrate, i. e. as close to actual operating conditions.
EFFECT: technical result is an increase in the informativeness and reliability of the results of testing the structures of armored barriers.
