FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of spectral analysis of the chemical composition of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Method of optical emission spectral analysis of the chemical composition of an electrically conductive melt includes: immersion in a metal melt of a refractory probe with a sampling probe, the formation in it of a sample of molten metal due to ferrostatic pressure, the excitation of a plasma torch on its surface, the transmission of a plasma glow through the optical channel to the input of the spectrometer, obtaining in it a spectrum of chemical elements of the metal melt, processing the obtained spectrum to estimate the mass fraction of the chemical elements of the melt. Moreover, in order to increase the sensitivity and accuracy of optical emission spectral analysis, an electric spark method is used to excite plasma on a sample of liquid metal in an inert gas flow medium by means of an electrode of a spark generator, the stable level of the sample of liquid metal in the probe tube is maintained at the level of the side opening in the middle part of its wall due to compensation of the ferrostatic pressure of the metal melt by the dynamic pressure of the inert gas flow.
EFFECT: technical result consists in increasing the accuracy of the spectral analysis of electrically conductive melts and increasing the reliability of the plasma excitation device.
