FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in development of technology of manual arc welding and normalization of welding operations. Two electrodes of same brand and size are melted with fixed maximum and minimum values of arc current from range recommended by technical conditions for electrodes. Coefficients A and B of hyperbolic dependence t=A+(B/I) are calculated reckoning melting time at minimum and maximum arc currents. Time for complete melting of coated electrode portion for any selected arc current is calculated using resulting hyperbolic relationship. Coefficient of melting is determined by formula: αP=(GC-GD)3,600/IDVtP, where GC – mass of rod, GD – mass of exposed part of electrode, IDV – selected arc current from recommended current range, tP – estimated time of complete melting of electrode coated part.
EFFECT: method makes it possible, with minimum number of experiments, to obtain exact values of melting coefficient over entire current range.
