FIELD: machine building; construction.
SUBSTANCE: average speed of melting electrode by dividing length of melted part to time of melting is determined. Rate of melt is determined by formula V=(2·Le/t)-Vo, wherein Le is length of fused with part of electrode; t is electrode melting time, Vo is electrode melting initial design speed. Coated electrode melting initial speed is determined by calculation based on known initial melting speed of naked wire in automatic welding under flux layer. At that, given density of coated electrode is used when coating mass is considered to be included into mass of rod. Initial speed of coated electrode melting Vo is determined by formula Vo=αro·J/ρe, wherein J is current density of arc, A/cm2; ρe is given density of rod, taking into account weight of coating, g/cm3. Coefficient of bare electrode melting αro in this case is measured in g/(A·s). Here A is arc current in amperes, s is time in seconds.
EFFECT: method enables according to one experience for electrode melting to determine its melting speed with high accuracy.
