FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: concentrically coated metal rod has a bare section located in the central zone of the electrode in order to connect the electrode to the electrode holder. The centre of the bare section is located at the centre of the metal rod or biased of the length of the rod up to 0.1. The conical transition section of the coating is located on each side of the rod bare section. A contact end is provided on both sides of the electrode. The length of the welding electrode can be increased twice without necessity to reduce the allowable welding current. In this case, the relative length of the bare section of the electrode and the length of cinders decrease, the time share for replacing the electrode decreases. The electrode is fixed in the electrode holder in the middle of the bare section. Welding is carried out firstly by one half of the electrode, but the welding current does not flow through the second half. After melting the first half of the electrode, the arc is ignited from the second end of the electrode.
EFFECT: increased reliability of the welding, cost reduction.
