FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanical engineering and can be used in processing materials with face cutters. Cutter includes a housing in which at least one seat under the plate is formed in the transition between the front end and the outer surface of the cutter and in which the cutting insert is fixed. Plate comprises an upper side forming an upper extension plane, cutting edge extending around the periphery of the upper side, and the underside forming the lower extension plane and facing the lower support surface of the socket beneath the plate. Central axis extends perpendicularly through the upper and lower extension planes. Cutter is designed so that the portion of the main cutting edge is angled in the plan k less than 80 °, and so that upper extension plane is located at a radial apex angle -60 °≤γf≤-25 ° and the axial apex angle -20 °≤γm≤0 °, the inclination angle λ of the main cutting edge portion is in the range 15 °≤λ≤50 °.
EFFECT: provided strength of the cutting edge, improved removal of chips, reduced vibration and noise level during processing.
