FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method for processing fruit, fruit, berries, vegetables and herbs before storage. Method comprises treating the crop with gaseous 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) and then storing it in a conventional or controlled gaseous medium at a reduced temperature and is characterized by the fact that when processing agricultural products in the atmosphere, acetylene is additionally contained in a mass ratio 1-MCP:acetylene=1:100–5,000.
EFFECT: use of this method makes it more versatile and easy to use in practice and provide long-term storage of horticultural and crop production.
