SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, namely, data collection devices related to the environmental conditions and the operations of a medical device. Data collection device for monitoring the use history of a medical device can be connected to the data collection device and has a self-test circuit for sensing a fault in the device, and comprises an environmental sensor in the medical device location, a memory operable to record operating data from the medical device and to record the environmental data from the environmental sensor, wherein the data being correlated in time and combined with operating data obtained from the medical device, a wireless transceiver and a controller in communication with the environmental sensor, the memory, and the transceiver, wherein the transceiver is operable to receive the data on the necessary modification of the standard device maintenance program, receive instructions automatically modifying the operating condition for the device, transmit the use data collected by the device, the controller is configured to transmit the received change instructions in the device self-test protocol to the medical device and transmit the received instructions to the medical device to display a message on the medical device. System comprises a data collection device disposed with a medical device and comprising a second memory, remote from the data collection device and in communication with the transceiver to receive and store the environmental data and the operating data, and a central computer in communication with the second memory, operable to compare the environmental data and the operating data against a predictive maintenance model, which is further configured to predict a time to failure of the medical device based on the comparison. Method for monitoring the use history of a medical device is carried out by the system.

EFFECT: use of inventions provides the improved predictive maintenance model.
