FIELD: measurement.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates generally optical inspection of samples, in particular to automated methods and devices for capturing and analysing electronic images of samples. Disclosed optical device comprises a case, which is configured to fit over at least a part of a mobile computing device having first and second surfaces and comprising a light source, which emits a light beam through an exit aperture and guides the light beam from the second surface of the mobile computing device, and a camera module, which captures images through an entrance aperture. Both the entrance and exit apertures open on the second surface of the mobile computing device. Also, the optical device comprises a receiving portion on the case, which is configured to receive and position the sample near the second surface of the mobile computing device within the field of view of the camera module, and an optical lighting system configured to receive and rotate the beam emitted by the light source. Optical lighting system comprises a pair of reflecting surfaces, each of which is configured to rotate the beam by 90° and each of which is configured to reflect the beam toward the second surface of the mobile computing device so as to illuminate the sample from behind, while the camera module captures one or more images of the backlit sample.
EFFECT: technical result is enabling testing of seminal fluid in home conditions at any stage.
