FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radiation chemistry and high-energy chemistry for production by thermoradiation treatment of blanks, polymer materials with improved performance characteristics, in particular polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and other brands of fluoroplastics used in various industries. In particular, it concerns the processing of blanks by high-energy ionizing radiation at a temperature strictly above the melting temperature of the crystalline phase of the polymer in an oxygen-free environment. Treatment is carried out with a pulse linear electron accelerator generating ionizing radiation, up to an absorbed dose of 0–500 kGy. During irradiation, the temperature of the polymer is reduced to no more than 0.5 °C/10 kGy, and after processing with ionizing radiation the polymer is subjected to heat treatment. For processing, use alpha radiation, gamma radiation, electron radiation, irradiation with protons and neutrons with high energies, radiation from natural sources.

EFFECT: method of processing provides increase in the physical and mechanical properties of the material, ensuring their permanence and programmability of physico-mechanical characteristics.
