SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a smoking article and to a method for manufacturing a combustible heat source in a holder for use in such a smoking article. Smoking article comprises a combustible heat source having opposite front and rear end surfaces; an aerosol generating substrate having opposite front and rear end surfaces, the front end surface of the aerosol generating substrate being located downstream of the rear end surface of the combustible heat source; and a non-flammable holder for a combustible heat source comprising a barrier between the rear end surface of the combustible heat source and the front end surface of the aerosol generating substrate and a plurality of first retention fingers connected to the barrier, wherein the first retention fingers extend from the barrier along the outer surface of the combustible heat source.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is the creation of a smoking article having a reduced surface temperature near a combustible heat source, and a barrier placed between said combustible heat source and an aerosol generating substrate for which a solid assembly would be possible.
